About the CigarSmokingMan

The CigarSmokingMan leads a semi-peaceful life in the Tampa Bay area of Florida. He is married with two young daughters at home (hence, the not so peaceful). Frequent trips to Ybor City and fine Cigar Shops to see “da Boyz” keep his sanity in check.

You can read my Tampa Cigar Examiner cigar column on Examiner.com

When I’m not smokin’, I’m drinkin’. I enjoy researching classic cocktail recipes on the internet and in my growing collection of cocktail recipe books. Once I find one of interest, I round up the ingredients and bring the results of my mixology to you here on this blog.

Lastly, I enjoy home roasting coffee beans. Like a fine hand-rolled cigar or a perfectly mixed cocktail, home roasting coffee allows you to bring out the best, freshest flavors in a bean you will ever find.

  • Wow, you roast your own coffee beans? I bow to your superior dedication to the nectar of the gods! :)

What’s your favorite port? I’m a fan of the tawnies, and have been a fairly regular drinker of Taylor-Fladgate (generally the 20 year old, the 40 on rare special occasions). Ever try Madiera wine?

  • Home roasting is an excellent past time. I truly enjoy a fresh cup of home roasted coffee. I’ve been drinking Cockburn’s and Ware’s Port wines. I do enjoy a good tawny as well. I’ll give Taylor-Fladgate a try soon. Thanks for the tip. I have yet to try Madiera wine, I’ll look for that too.

  • Nice site you have there. I have kids too. Never a boring min. I enjoy reading your reviews .

  • I just purchased two premium cigars and because of gross negligence on my own part, they were bent at 90 degree angles. One has a broken wrapper and a perforation of approx. 1″. Is there an easy fix for this other than keeping your thumb over the opening while smoking this beauty? I feel so cigar rookie-ish as I’m sure a true aficionado would never allow the grocery bags so close to his premium cigars in transport. Your help would be appreciated as these cigars cost a bit of pocket change and should be smoked no matter what their condition. Thank you.

  • Cigar Man, I have not forgotten about the rum. I’m buried in reviews, but will get to it. Promise. Do you have any medium bodied cigar recommendations? My brother’s birthday is Wednesday. He smokes them every once in a while with scotch. I’m picking him up a bottle of Macallan 12 to go with. Have a cigar recommendation that won’t take in a trip to Cuba? ;)

  • Hi CigarSmokingMan!

I love your site, as I too am prone to enjoy these sorts of same libations (coffee, cigars, mixed drinks, you name it)! I’ve linked you to my own website, http://cultureofspirits.com, and thought you may wanna exchange links.

    Take care, and keep smokin’!

    -Micah!
